Your Tattoo Doesn’t End When You Leave the Studio

The artist creates the tattoo. Your aftercare helps protect the result.

The first days and weeks after getting a tattoo are important. Following your tattoo artist's specific aftercare instructions can help support proper healing and preserve the appearance of your tattoo.

Keep it clean

Follow the cleaning instructions provided by your tattoo artist. Use clean hands and avoid unnecessary touching.

Hydrate — but don't overdo it

Once your artist advises that it is appropriate, use the recommended aftercare product in a thin layer. More product isn't necessarily better.

Avoid scratching or picking

As the tattoo heals, itching and peeling can occur. Resist the temptation to scratch or remove flakes or scabs. Let the skin heal naturally.

Be careful with the sun

UV exposure can affect tattoo pigments and, once the tattoo has healed, consistent sun protection helps maintain its appearance over time.

Avoid unnecessary friction and soaking

During the healing period, follow your artist's advice regarding swimming, baths, intense exercise, tight clothing and other activities that may irritate the area.

Know when to seek medical advice

Some redness, tenderness and swelling can occur during normal healing. However, if you develop symptoms that seem severe, worsen rather than improve, or you are concerned about possible infection, seek medical advice.

BRATZ TIP:

Your tattoo is a long-term investment in your personal expression. Give it the care it deserves.
